OVERVIEW
The current raw water supply system for the City of Atlanta dates back to 1893, the newest construction being done in 1975. The City acquired the Bellwood Quarry to create a new 2.4 billion gallon water storage facility that would be able to provide the City with 30-days of backup water. To connect the Hemphill WTP, Chattahoochee WTP, and the Chattahoochee River intake to the new water storage facility, Atkinson is constructing a 5-mile long, 10-foot diameter tunnel.
Agitator cars are filled with concrete and transported to the feed conveyor on the Maxon Maxcrete.
Feed conveyor loads the Maxon Maxcrete body. The body is a remix surge hopper with the ability to hold and re-temper concrete longer than the agitator cars and match the speeds of the Putzmeister BSA120 before placing to the forms.
