Construction of the 1 million square-foot Amazon Fulfillment Center in Beloit, WI began for Scurto Cement and Middleton Construction in December 2019. Ready-mix supplier, Ozinga Bros, was contracted to pour the interior and exterior slabs. Ozinga used the Maxon TranzLoader to reduce the amount of mixer trucks needed for the project.
TranzLoader’s 12 yd3 hopper meters concrete onto a 42″ wide discharge belt feeding mixer trucks. Mixer trucks allowed Ozinga to re-temper concrete on-side and place concrete for interior and exterior work including slab, pavement, and curb & gutter.
TranzLoader maximizes central mix concrete plant production. Ozinga was able to place up to 250 yd3 per hour utilizing 25 independently contracted dump trucks to transport concrete and only five ready-mix trucks on-site for re-tempering and placing concrete.
Ozinga’s Operations Manager for Illinois North & Wisconsin, Brent Blankenhorn, eplained how TranzLoader successfully help Ozinga complete the Amazon Fulfillment pour.
The Amazon project had a tight construction schedule. We started the project in December with a required completion date in June. TranzLoader allowed us to significantly redue the number of Ozinga ready-mix trucks, using them only at the jobsite, then contracted with local dump truck operators for haulage from our central mix plant. Without TranzLoader, we would not have been able to support our other customer during peak season.
Ozinga placed over 60,000 yd3 on the project, utilizing TranzLoader during high demand season, maximizing production from their central mix plant and freeing up mixer trucks for additional projects.
