Bechtel Corporation was awarded Phase 1 of the Intel Corp chip plant project, a 2.5 million square foot construction design in New Albany, Ohio. Mobile Conveying Services (Brisbane, Australia) supplied a Putzmiester TB200 Telebelt, and a Maxon 18yd3 Maxcrete, a concrete remix surge hopper.
The Maxcrete was positioned to allow up to four mixer trucks to unload quickly and return to the batching plant. The Maxcrete maintained the concrete quality by mixing multiple loads together and providing a continuous volume of concrete on to the feeder belt. The Maxcrete was able to meter the material for even loading of the belt for maximum production. The TB200 was used to place concrete for the footings, foundations and floor panels. With this combination of equipment, Bechtel was able to place concrete at rates up to 400 yds3 per hour with a reach of 200 feet.
